Halloween is a big deal at our house. Each year we add a few more decorations and a new Halloween book or two. The past year or so I’ve also found a few fun ways to add some Halloween tricks to lunch and snack time.
Spooky Halloween Food Picks
I like to slip in a little Halloween fun into the boys lunches is by using Spooky Halloween Food Picks for turkey rolls or fruit kabobs. I don’t use them every day but rather sporadically throughout the weeks prior to Halloween. The ones I use are $4.95 for a pack of 72, which have lasted me almost 3 years now.
Silicone Pumpkin Mold Pan
I’m a big fan of using baking mold pans as a way to put out a variety of snacks. I’m not sure where I found the pumpkin one I have, but I found this similar Orange Silicone Pumpkin Halloween Mold with 24 spots for $15.99 on Amazon. I put small items like goldfish, cheese, carrot slices, pasta, or grapes in the molds. I find I can often get the kids to eat healthier snacks that way . . . maybe because they find it more interesting and fun. Kiera, who is now 16-months-old, loves it too.
Halloween Cookie Cutters
And of course there is the old stand-by – Halloween cookie cutters! I use them mostly for grilled cheese sandwiches and quesadillas (a favorite from my own childhood). These days the boys like doing the “cutting” themselves, which always leads to “interesting” shapes, but when I have the time, I like to use it for their school lunches.
Which of these seems doable to you? Do you have anything fun Halloween food tricks? Share them in the comments!
