My Favorite Pregnancy Resources

I’m happy to share all of MY knowledge and beliefs on pregnancy and exercise, but I often find that pregnant women like to see (or hear) the research in writing, so I’ve gathered here some of my favorite resources for pregnancy – websites, books, audio books and podcasts. If I’ve missed a favorite of yours please share in the comments.

ACOG – American College of Obstetricians & Gynecology

I call this my pregnancy bible. This is (hopefully) what most doctors are using as their resource as well. They provide great guidelines to pregnancy and postpartum recovery, from recommended weight gain to exercise recommendations to what to expect in postpartum recovery.

Exercising Through Pregnancy by Dr. James F. Clapp III MD

Almost every pre/postnatal certification requires this book because Dr. Clapp has done his research!! If you want stats and stories to back up pushing yourself a little harder than you’d expect during pregnancy, this read will make you feel safe and smart in your decisions to exercise during pregnancy.

Erica Ziel

Erica is one of my personal favorite pre/postnatal exercise specialists, and I also now consider her a friend. Her e-book Knocked Up Fitness Guide To Pregnancy(or book version) includes exercises to address common pregnancy discomforts such as, round ligament, back, hips, neck and sciatic, as well as safe and effective exercises to stay fit in as little as 10 minutes a day, and much more.  I’m also a huge advocate of her Core Rehab program, which is super effective in postpartum recovery, specifically if you’re dealing with diastasis recti repair. She also just launched a new podcast, Core Connections, which I will be on soon.

The Informed Pregnancy Podcast

I saw Dr. Berlin, a pre/postnatal chiropractor specialist through during my 2nd pregnancy. He is magical and very well connected in the prenatal market. His podcast is a wonderful resource for all things pregnancy and postpartum.

More Podcasts

Although the following aren’t specifically pregnancy podcasts, they are podcasts where I’ve conversed with other experts on things you should know during pregnancy in regards to exercise. Again, if you like consuming information that way, give the following a listen (click on the podcast thumbnails below).
