6 Reasons I Miss Breastfeeding

I am about to end my breastfeeding journey with Kiera and it’s been harder for me to wean her than it was the boys. What hasn’t differed, though, is what I love about breastfeeding.

August is Breastfeeding Awareness Month and this week is World Breastfeeding Week. A few years back (when I had just finished weaning Liam) PAM, which stood for Pregnancy Awareness Month and is now a website called IHeartPregnancy.com,  asked me to do a Vlog about breastfeeding. Since I had just finished, I chose to discuss the 6 Reasons I Miss Breastfeeding.

I preface this by saying that I do believe all women should feel empowered whether they breastfeed exclusively, some, or not at all. I did this Vlog partly to help women who are thinking about weaning be aware of how things might change, but also, selfishly, so I can remember what I loved most about breastfeeding. Because although my postpartum recovery and breastfeeding journey with Kiera has been different, what I love about it hasn’t changed.

Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. The intro is a bit long, so if you want to get to the actual “reasons” I miss breastfeeding fast forward to about 1:50. Enjoy!
