Fun & Affordable Valentine Gifts (for the Hubby & Kids)

I LOVE holidays . . . I love decorating my house, sending cards, doing holiday crafts, creating holiday inspired workouts, and giving holiday gifts. However, I don’t like breaking the budget on any of these things. Since the gift giving part is often the hardest, and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, I thought I’d share some of my favorite ideas with you.

Let’s start with the hardest one (at least in my case) . . . Most of the reason it’s hard with Mr. B is because he honestly doesn’t care and doesn’t expect anything. Sound familiar? I only make it hard on myself by wanting to give him something. I can be stubborn sometimes. LOL Here are a few ideas:

For the Hubby:

  1. Homemade Valentine Card from the Kids – This is the easiest and quickest of them all. I love offering the kids fill-in-the-blank options because let’s face it, “kids say the darndest things.” Here’s two that I created that you can apply to anyone, especially Dad! Just click on the pictures and you’ll be able to download PDFs and print (These are great for ALL family members and special friends.)
  2. Pixels.com – I am partial to this site but I use it for so many gifts. You can upload pics of the kids or you and your partner on to bags, pillow, iphone covers, mugs or just make a good old framed print.

3. Boxers – I know this is a cliche gift but it always works at my house and definitely won’t break the bank. I think I’m going to have a little fun this year with some Star Wars humor. What do you think?

For the Kids:

So just for a little insight, I have 2 boys who are 5 & 2 at this moment. Don’t get me wrong, I will give them some candy, but I don’t want it to be ALL about the candy. Here are a few non-edible recommendations:

  1. Valentine Books: I’m always a fan of books for any holiday (I was raised by a teacher/librarian). I haven’t quite decided on which ones I will give this year, but if you don’t have the Love Monster books yet, my boys LOVE them. They teach great life lessons about gift giving and the illustrations are adorable.

  2. Super Grow Eggs: I’ve given them on Easter before dinosaur egg versions of these and they loved them. It’s great fun for about a week seeing them grow, so I thought these Valentine “pet” versions sounded like fun. Plus they are only $5.99 a piece.

  3. Valentine Coloring Books: My youngest, Liam, is in a Thomas the Train stage and loves colorings so for $3.99 I found him a Thomas Valentine Coloring Book with stickers. I also saw some fun Valentine themed ones for Paw Patrol, Sofia the FirstDoc McStuffins & Minnie Mouse.

  4.  Valentine Legos: My oldest is heavy into Legos. I found all sorts of fun Valentine themed legos at different price ranges. This teddy bear one seemed the best fit for the best price, but there was also a Valentine Lego Cupid Dog, Valentine Lego Picnic scene and even a Valentine Lego rose.

For the Whole Family (that includes you):

Graze BoxI know Valentine’s Day can often mean too much candy and tempting treats, but I had to include this one because it’s one of my new favorite things. Graze Box is a curated box, which means you sign up at Graze.com (use code SARAB7Q3P) and basically design the box according to your tastes. I actually get one about twice a month (which I often share on my Instagram stories). I love it because the treats are the perfect size for on-the-go and small enough to not feel over-indulgent. If you like trying new things, I highly recommend giving them a try sometimes. You can even pick protein and low-calorie options. Or, if you’re looking for a special Valentine treat, you can design a “chocolate” based one for the holiday (use code CHOCOLATE30 for 30% off) . I say “chocolate” because the one I got had lots of white chocolate and nut options (mostly because that’s my preference). Click HERE to watch a video of the boys and me exploring our Graze Valentine box. If you’re looking for a way to control the chocolate cravings this holiday or have a mixture of healthy treats with the indulgent ones, shop Graze.com and use code SARAB7Q3P & CHOCOLATE30 for 30% off). What are some of your Valentine ideas this year? Will you be using any of mine? Let me know in the comments below.
