Halloween is just days away and one of our favorite ways of getting pumped up as the holiday gets closer is with some traditional Halloween and Halloween-themed shows. These are quickly becoming Halloween traditions at our house!
We still read the book version of this too but the “movie” couldn’t be cuter. It’s under 30 minutes so perfect for a quick afternoon break, and it’s available on Amazon and Netflix. It’s definitely appropriate for all ages and tells such a wonderful story of friendship. By the way, I also just found a Room on the Broom Activity Book that I just ordered for the boys as well.
2. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
This is one of my favorites from childhood. I remember watching it every year, and they usually show it on TV each year so check your guides. I DVR’d it but we also own it on DVD. You can watch it on Amazon, and it’s also a book.
3. Hotel Transylvania 2
We just watched this for the first time recently. I’ve never seen the first one but this was adorable and relatable for parents – about the differences between families, in-law problems, deciding where to live, letting the grandparents take care of the kids. I highly recommend watching this one as a family. It’s available on Amazon and Netflix.
4. Curious George: A Halloween Boo Fest
My boys love this one but mostly because they love Curious George. It’s just under an hour and fun but not scary. You can get it on Amazon or Netflix, and I actually think we watched it On Demand on FiOs.
5. Monsters, Inc.
Okay, I know this one isn’t specifically a Halloween movie but it is about monsters and well, you know, it’s awesome. So if your kids are into monsters this Halloween, I highly recommend watching this as a family, even if it is for the 15th time. Monsters University is a great one too, especially for any of you who have ever been part of the college Greek system. It’s available on Amazon.
What are your favorite Halloween shows that you like watching with your kids?
We love the Garfield Halloween special and Monster House.
