How to Make Cleaning Fun . . . for Everyone!

This week we joined the movement for healthy cleaning as part of a sponsored post for Aunt Fannieā€™s.

I hate cleaning .Ā .Ā . let me say that again .Ā . . I hate cleaning. In fact, I always say to my husband, “I LOVE being a mom but I HATE being a cleaning lady.” But I do it every day and I do it pretty well. I think that makes it at least bearable. Plus, I have a few tricks up my sleeve for making it more enjoyable for my little helpers and me.

1. Make some noise!

If the kids are helping me, which they do a lot of these days (This cleaning lady does NOT like to clean alone.) then we put some tunes on. It’s such an amazing distraction and a great way to have fun as you clean. If you follow me on Instagram you know there are lots of dance parties in my house – our current favorites are Party Rock Anthem, Levels and Warm It Up, Kris!Ā Ā

And then, of course, I get a little silly with it making up my own lyrics. For instance, for Warm It Up, Kris:Ā Ā

“Clean It up, Kids . . .Ā I’m about to. Clean it up, Kids . . . Cause that ‘s what I was born to do.”

If I’m cleaning on my own, then I almost always have a podcast on. I’m obsessed with them right now and need to share some of my favorites on the blog soon. Stay tuned!

2. Take some pics.

Catching the kids in action, especially when they’re doing something helpful, is one of my favoriteĀ things to do. Plus, it can be a really clever way to get your kids in the mood to help. Laughter can get you far in life, right? Check out the kids and IĀ having a cleaning party with Aunt Fannie’s cleaning products using the Boomerang app.

3. Use safe products.

Part of what makes cleaning more fun (and less anxious) is knowing that the cleaning products my kids are using are safe. I feel like I can ask the kids to do more when I’m using Aunt Fannie’s productsĀ becauseĀ they are made with food-based ingredients, have no dyes, ammonia, bleach, alcohol, or synthetic fragrances, and have been awarded highest health & safety rating for cleaning products by the Environmental Working Group.

These are my four favorite Aunt Fannie’s products that I’ve tried so far:

  1. Aunt Fannie’s Fly Punch: We eat so many fruits and veggies in my house and let’s face it flies are just gross. This is a lifesaver. It’s a non-toxic formula thatā€™s safe near food, people, and pets.

  2. Aunt Fannie’s Cleaning Vinegars:Ā I totally dig the smell of this, so I’m convinced I must love the smell of vinegar. LOL But seriously, it is very mild and does smell good. According to Aunt Fannie’s, it’s a great way to clean without interrupting your indoor microbiome (FYI – a microbiome is defined as the collection of microbes or microorganisms that inhabit an environment, creating a mini-ecosystem of sorts.).

  3. Aunt Fannies Glass & Window Vinegar Wash: Surprisingly, it leaves your glass and windows streak free. Like the other products, it has no harsh chemicals in it.
  4. Aunt Fannie’s Cleaning Vinegar Wipes: These are the ones we use the most. Wipes are easy for the kids. They are made from100% biodegradable, unbleached material.

4. Have a friendly competition.

I’m sure it will come as no surprise to you that my kids like to race, so what better way to make cleaning more efficient than to challenge the boys to see who can be the quickest and the cleanest? Sometimes I join in the competition too and almost always win! LOL

So now it’s your turn, how do you rally everyone to help clean? Any tips I need to know? Please share in the comments, and if you’re interested in healthier housekeeping, make sure to check Aunt Fannie’s products out.
