Depending on the day, working out during pregnancy can be a challenging task. Reminding ourselves of the importance of exercise during this incredible journey always helps – from increasing our energy to keeping us strong to preparing us for a more efficient postnatal recovery. At almost 40 weeks, I just keep reminding myself that today might be my last workout for a while (since you need to rest your body as it heals in the first 4-8 weeks postpartum).
Today I’m sharing 3 tools that will make your workouts more effective and are also just great products to have during pregnancy and for when baby arrives. All products can be found on a new site BabyCubby.com, that helps expecting parents find the best of the best products and tools on the market. You can read more about them below.

Keep Record of Your Fitness Routine
A pregnancy journal, like the Expecting You Pregnancy Journal, traditionally helps you document your pregnancy, but why not also use it to track your workouts? Not only will it most likely keep you more committed to working out by helping hold you accountable, but as a soon-to-be mom of three, I know I would have loved to look back and see what my workouts consisted of during my previous pregnancies (to help keep me motivated this pregnancy).

Break In Your Jogging Stroller
You’re probably thinking “What? I haven’t even had the baby yet?” If you already have kids that are stroller age, this is a no-brainer. But if you are a brand new expecting mom, why not put that stroller together early and break it in? You can always just walk to the grocery store and practice filling up your stroller with groceries (I use it for this all the time). For all anyone knows, your usual passenger is just at preschool. LOL
I also mention this idea because I’ve received a lot of questions lately about how to relieve sciatic pain. Whether you walk or run, a jogging stroller helps make your ride a bit smoother. It can really help ease the pain and provide a means of support and balance. I had about 2 weeks when I was pregnant with Liam (my second) where I had hip pain (very similar to sciatica) and the only way I could walk pain-free was when I pushed Landon (my oldest) in the stroller.
My new favorite stroller is the Bumbleride Jogging Stroller. Here are just some of the things I LOVE about it: 1) It’s eco-friendly – made of 100% recycled polyester and 28 post-consumer water bottles per stroller which gives it it’s ultra-soft texture. 2) It has a foldable bumper bar to protect your baby or toddler. 3) It has a parent wrist strap & reflective logos. 4) The folding process is one-step, so it’s easier to close than most strollers. 5) It even has a cute little bell.
3. Do Functional Training with Storage Bins
Some of the most functional training you can do to prep for life as a mom is right at your fingertips. Use baby storage bins as your weight training tools. It’s so essential that you learn how to lift them in a way that is safe for your legs and back so you can stay strong for your baby. The last thing you want to do is throw out your back when your baby is here. Moreover, keeping your back strong will keep you more comfortable during the nursing process. When you bend down to pick up your bins make sure you do so in a proper squat or dead lift with your core engaged.
I hope some of these ideas will help you mix up your workouts, keep you motivated, and give you tools that you can carry over into motherhood. Please remember to always listen to your body. Rest when you needs to and get sweaty on the days you’re feeling great. I’m always here to answer any questions you may have. You can email me or leave them in the comments below.
