Today is International Children’s Book Day! What better way to celebrate than to share some of our favorites! Of course, we LOVE Dr. Seuss (You can read about some of our not-so-traditional Dr. Seuss favorites HERE), and Shel Silverstein. If you’re not familiar with Mr. Silverstein, The Giving Tree and Where the Sidewalk Ends are great places to start. Landon (my 6-year-old) and I have also been loving the new versions of Harry Potter that include pictures (only Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (1st book) and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2nd book) have been released and you can pre-order the 3rd one).
But here are some children’s books you may not be familiar with that both boys (almost 3 and 6 years old) LOVE.
- Rubin Salmieri’s silly books: No life lessons here – just pure silliness and fun, which is why we love them!

2. Lisa Wheeler & Barry Gott’s Dinosaur Sports Books: Looks like Wheeler has written one for almost every sport out there (We’ve only read the soccer one – about 100 times.), so if your kids love dinosaurs and sports, these are a perfect fit. They review the rules of the sport and introduce different dinosaurs, and the kids’ just love the pictures and seeing who will win the game.

3. Anna Dewdneylife lessons books (same author as theLlama Llama books)
Roly Poly Pangolin
A sweet book about not being afraid to explore the world around you . . . you might just meet a new friend. Landon was obsessed with this one when he was younger.
Would love to hear what some of your favorite children’s books are. Share your recommendations with other mamas in the comments below.
