Sara Haley is a simple mid-westerner at heart. Proud to have been born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, she acquired a double BA in English and Speech Communications at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. What she really learned in college, though, was that she wanted to pursue a career in dance and choreography. After dancing and coaching her college team, the Illini Dance Team, to national champions, as well as spending her college summers performing and teaching for Universal Dance Association, Sara decided to move to New York City to pursue a career in entertainment.
It was her college sweetheart, Sean (now her husband of eleven years), who really encouraged her to go after her dreams. From dancing for the NBA to performing in commercials and off-Broadway shows, Sara is forever grateful for her ten years in New York City, especially because it eventually led to her fitness career. After teaching classes all over New York City and training celebrities, her big break was being recruited by Reebok, Int. to help develop programs for JUKARI, the branded workout series between Reebok and Cirque du Soleil. This led to seven years of working as a Reebok Global Master Trainer, which included traveling all over the world to train other fitness trainers and instructors, doing media appearances, and creating and starring in numerous Reebok & Gaiam DVD workout programs.
Along her fitness journey, Sara became a prenatal and postnatal exercise specialist. Little did she know, she had found her niche. When she became pregnant with her oldest son, Landon, Sara saw a lack in challenging and inspiring workout options for pregnant women. She partnered with her friend and colleague, Anna Kaiser of AKTinMotion, to create Expecting More®, a prenatal exercise DVD program that includes 6 workouts and a calendar to guide women through all three trimesters. Expecting More® has won a National Parenting Publication Award and is ranked one of the top prenatal workouts on Amazon.
After the birth of her first son, Sara went on to create her newest workout DVD, Sweat UNLIMITED, an equipment free workout that includes 5, 15, 30, & 45 minute workouts for the busy parent or professional. Her workout DVD brand is called The Daily Sweat®, as Sara believes that everyone should sweat a little (or a lot) each day to get what they want out of life.
During her postnatal recovery from her second son, Sara created her newest DVD, Expecting More®: The 4th Trimester Workout, which is due out in late April 2015. Whether you had a baby six weeks, six months, or six years ago, the eight different workouts will help you increase your cardio endurance, tone your body, and most of all, focus on healing and strengthening the section of your body that was most effected by pregnancy – your core.
Besides continuing to create The Daily Sweat® workouts, Sara teaches for the prestigious Equinox health clubs, is a Master Trainer for the Ultraslide® Slideboard, a brand ambassador for PrismSport exercise apparel and Hint Water, a fitness expert for the popular women’s health website Lifescript.com and the LA Times, and also consults for numerous international publications. She is a certified trainer and instructor by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), a certified Pre/Post Natal Exercise Specialist by the American Fitness Professionals & Associates (AFPA), and a proud member of the American Pregnancy Association (APA). She has additional certifications to teach/train: Cross Fit, willPower & grace®,Kettlebell Concepts, JUKARI: Fit to Fly and Fit to Flex, Urban Rebounding, Schwinn Cycling, TRX, and more. In addition to her expertise, Sara brings her students and fans her energetic personality and devotion to making exercise fun and rewarding, so that it can become less of a chore and a part of a healthy lifestyle.
Though fitness continues to be a big part of her life, the recent birth of Sara’s second son, Liam, inspired her to expand beyond fitness and share more of her life journey and struggles . . . balancing WHAT You Love with WHO You Love, which she features on her blog and hosts webisodes on her YouTube channel. She hopes as she continues to develop this new lifestyle brand, she can help others discover the best ways to stay healthy and happy in the constant pursuit of finding the work/life balance that we all seek to have.
Sara currently resides in Santa Monica, CA, with her husband and two children, enjoying the sunshine and the more carefree quality of life the west coast brings.
