Must-Have Fitness Items for Expecting & New Moms (as seen on CBS LA)

Itā€™s so important (and so challenging) to stay active when youā€™re pregnant and sometimes even more so in your postnatal recovery. As a prenatal and postnatal exercise specialist and soon-to-be mom of 3, I shared on CBS LA this weekend some of my favorite products for staying fit and healthy through pregnancy and beyond.Ā Here are the details on where to find my must-haves, as well as some nice discounts. You can also watch my CBS appearance HERE.

Workout-Friendly Stroller:

TheĀ Bumbleride “Speed”Ā is the perfect way to ease back into a workout routine as a new mom. It’s lightweight and has swivel technology, which makes it perfect for running or walking. Furthermore, if youā€™re pregnant with toddlers already at home, putting them in the stroller is a great way to stay fit during pregnancy. It may sound crazy but the support of a stroller can be great to ease issues like sciatica when walking so if you already have a stroller and baby hasnā€™t arrived, load it up with groceries, etc. and start getting used to it while you ease the pain. (Price: $549)

Some of my other favorite features of the stroller include: 1) It’s eco-friendly – made of 100% recycled polyester and 28 post-consumer water bottles per stroller which gives it it’s ultra-soft texture. 2) It has a foldable bumper bar to protect your baby or toddler. 3) It has a parent wrist strap & reflective logos. 4) The folding process is one-step, so it’s easier to close than most strollers. 5) It even has a cute little bell. Ā The Bumbleride has so many more features but these are my favorites.

Workout Programs:

Stay in shape, be safe and have fun with my workouts that cover pregnancy and postnatal recovery:Ā Expecting MOREĀ® (pregnancy workout program)Ā andĀ Expecting MOREĀ®: The 4th Trimester Workouts.Ā I give c-section and diastasis recti recovery modifications in The 4th Trimester workout, so there are options for all deliveries and fitness levels. Both workout programs come with a calendar to help guide you through the workouts. (Prices range from $0.99 to $39.95.)

Workout Gear:

  1. Bao Bei Belly Support Bra –Ā It’s so important to support your growing belly during pregnancy. TheĀ Bao Bei Belly Support BraĀ helps take discomfort off the low back and gives core support to help with diastasis recti and pelvic floor issues. It also provides belly coverage for those shirts you might be quickly growing out of. (Price: $39-64).
  2. Ā Belly Bandit Belly Wraps:Ā I swear by these! Belly wraps sound so gimmicky but they are the real deal for postnatal recovery. Not only will they give you the support you need in those new days with baby, but you will see your belly go down quicker and it helps with diastasis recti healing. I love the B.F.F. wrap, but all of their belly wraps are super effective and some of them even provide a little glam and sex appeal. (Price: $79.95) If you shop before May 9, 2017 use code LOVEMOM for 25% off.Ā

3. Belabumbum maternity and nursing sports bra: Belabumbum makes soĀ many great maternity and new mom products, but their maternity/nursing bras are my current favorite. They provide the support and coverage as your chest grows during pregnancy and easy access for nursing. Plus, they are so cute and fashionable!Ā Use code SARAHALEYFIT for 10% off plus FREE shipping.Ā

4. Sneakers:Ā Comfortable, supportive and affordable shoes are life-savers during pregnancy and postnatal recovery, whether for workouts or just day-to-day mom life. I live inĀ SkechersĀ because of their air-cooled supportive memory foam, which provides a cushioned and comforted sole. They are also really light, flexible, and come in so many different designs and colors. I highly recommend the Women’s Flex Appeal 2.0.
