My Baby is Two!

My baby boy, Liam, turns two today. As most moms do, I keep asking myself where the time has gone and how this is possible, but here we are 2 years later. My baby is now a real boy who races on a scooter, roars like a dinosaur and has the appetite of a teenager.

So to celebrate, as I did when Landon turned 4, I wanted to share my 2 MOST favorite things about Liam on the day he turns 2.

  1. My Little Lovebug. . . As with most people we love, the things that we find frustrating at times are also the things we love the most. So, Liam is not the greatest sleeper in the world. Don’t get me wrong, it could me much much worse. Let’s just say he has a set of lungs on him, and when he’s ready to get up, he makes it well-known. I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that I co-slept with him much longer and more often than I did with my first or the fact that I catered to his teething wake-up calls the majority of this past year. LOL The fact of the matter is that I am also a snuggle bunny and catching up on my guilty pleasure TV in the middle of the night or in the early morning hours with a little warm body snuggled up under my chin has actually become something I look forward to. I’m also guessing a thirteen-year-old Liam won’t be begging to cuddle up with his mama, so I’ll take it for as long as I can get it. Besides the couch snuggles, there’s also the hugs and kisses he willingly gives all of us, mostly to his big brother (usually proceeded with a push or shove). I even swear he pushes sometimes just so he can hear “Liam, what are hands for?” and follow it up with a hug. It’s no wonder that one of his favorite board books is Hug by Jez Alborough
  2. That Smile! For those of you have met Liam or even seen pictures, you know what I’m talking about. Literally since he started smiling, at 5 weeks, he hasn’t stopped. At one point, my husband joked about it being a problem, “Why’s his face always like that?” LOL. People always ask me, “Is he always that happy?” And for the most part he is . . . until he’s not, of course. What makes me laugh is that his smile is often accompanied by a sideways glance, that makes you think he’s up to something. As a mom, I am so grateful for this smile because between it and the cuddles and hugs, Liam can litearlly turn my mood in a matter of seconds. IMG_6447

I’m sure you have things you love most about your kids. Feel free to share your favorites in the comments below. I’ll be spending the rest of my day celebrating my snuggly, smiley little boy. Happy Birthday Liam James!
